2013 Campaign

2013 is the third year for the Team G(race) running team, and after the successes of the first two years, we are launching a few new initiatives along with some fun programs and fundraising events.

Featured Races

Spring: Flying Pig Marathon, Half Marathon, 4-person relay, Sunday, May 5

Team G(race) is a Charity Partner of The Flying Pig, which means our members get a discounted registration rate through the end of April (with a special code), discounts at the Flying Pig store, and we will have our own tent in Charity Village after the race.

Fall: the inaugural Cleveland Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon, Saturday, October 5

Our members do many other races throughout the year, from 5k’s to Ultra Marathons.  Usually we have a pretty good turnout at major local races, like the Air Force marathon and the Columbus Marathon. See the 2013 Races page (under construction) to find out what other races members of the team will be doing.

ORRRC Team Series

Team G(race) joined the ORRRC Team Series for 2013.  Many of the team series races are free if you are a member of the ORRRC. The team series has a point system based on age, finishing place and number of participants. Before each team series race, there will be a designated captain who will be at the race to log our participants.

It is not required to be on the Team G team series team. By the end of January, a preliminary team roster will have to be submitted to the ORRRC.

New Team G training teams

In addition to the Troy/Miami County team, we are expanding to Dayton, Beavercreek and Springboro. There are already groups that run regularly in Beavercreek and Springboro, so we will be publishing a training schedule for all three locations in early 2013. We are also working on forming a Dayton team to be ready for our spring marathon/half marathon training.

Special Events

Sunday, February 3, 2013 – Luau Fun Run (bring your Hawaiian shirts, leis and hula skirts!), followed by a real luau and viewing the “big game” on the big screens at First Place Christian Center.  No cost! Freewill offering and bring an item for the Food Pantry.

Friday, February 15, 2013 – Father/Daughter Valentine’s Day Dance, in partnership with Girls on the Run Dayton.

April – Annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at First Place. (Specific date and time to be determined.)

Fundaising Incentives

$500 – Receive a $50 gift card from Up and Running

$750 – Hotel room paid for at either the Flying Pig or Cleveland Rock ‘n’ Roll

Mileage Incentives

In 2012, our members ran well over 1,000 miles in races alone! Most people have some preferred way to track their mileage, training and races. Just so we can see how far we are “running for a cause” we are going to offer an easy, centralized way for our members to submit their miles for tracking. This will be optional, but for those who choose to partcipate, you can win one of the following prizes:

750 miles – tbd

1250 miles – tbd
1500 miles – tbd
